Hawthorn Woods Recently Expanded Club Finds Success in Rockford

What a beautiful fall weekend it was Oct. 20th, in Rockford, IL for the recently expanded Hawthorn Woods Elite Soccer Club. Not only was the sun shinning & the temperature unseasonably mild, but ultimately success was theirs in the U16 Girls Red Division. The U16 girls from Hawthorn Woods Elite soccer club, well into their first year with the newly formed club, came up big, defeating MK (Milwaukee) Sirocco blue in the Championship match of the Rockford Super Clubs Tournament, In Rockford, IL.

The U16 team made it to the Championship game where the two teams ended up with a one-one tie, but the girls from Hawthorn Woods were ultimately victorious with a 4-3 shoot out victory for the win. The win came thanks in part to Goalie Laura Janousek who had a great save in the shoot out and was helped by a player from MK Sirocco missing a shot off the post. HWE came up big enough, only missing one of their shots off the post and sinking the other four. Molly Powers, Hannah Parker, Ashley Favia and Lexi Miranda, all put the ball in the back of the net for the victory. Great job girls! Next up for HWE club, traveling to St. Louis for the Scott Gallagher Tournament
