Fuller's Car Wash coming to Elgin

Just in time to wash all of the impending salt and slush off your vehicle, a new car wash is set to open along the Randall Road corridor this fall.

Fuller's Car Wash should be open just south of the intersection of Randall Road and Bowes Road by mid- to late-November, owner Colin Fuller said.

Construction on the new business is underway at the Randall Road location, which is in front of the Elgin Wal-Mart Supercenter and Sam's Club, and just to the south of the Elgin Portillo's Hot Dogs.

Fuller said he found the location through the folks at Portillo's and thought it was a great place to open another one of his family's carwashes.

There are many Fuller's carwashes throughout the Chicago area, including one in Geneva on State Street.

There are different kinds of Fuller's carwashes - some are self-service and some are full service with complete detail services.

This new Elgin Fuller's Car Wash location will be a $3 car wash center, Fuller said. There will be free vacuum usage with a car wash purchase, he added.

Fuller said the equipment at the center will be state-of-the-art to ensure vehicles get the best and most efficient car wash for the money.

Missing the fries:

The popular Chicago Grill along Randall Road in Lake in the Hills is now closed.

The business at 335 N. Randall Road, which drew in customers for its hand-cut fries and other Chicago favorites such as hot dogs, brats, burgers and beef, closed late last month.

Originally the plan was to have a new owner buy and reopen the Chicago Grill, which is on the east side of Randall near Starbucks.

However, that deal is on hold, leaving many craving those fries and other goods, which are hard to find elsewhere in the area.

Owner Dominick Pulli has said he was selling the business to focus on his other eatery, Bubs Subs, which is located just to the south on Randall Road in Algonquin. Running the two businesses and putting all of the time into both to ensure they were successful and offered the highest of quality of foods was difficult.

The spot for now remains vacant, though many customers have been emailing saying they are hoping a new business serving hand-cut fries will open in the location.

Save the date:

The Algonquin Commons mall has set the date for its annual Halloween event for families.

This year, the Boo Party will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.

At the event, there will be trick-or-treating at businesses throughout the mall.

There also will be more fun for kids on the 30th, including magicians, jugglers, pumpkin decorating, balloon shapes and more.

Stay tuned for more information on the Boo Party, which draws in children from up and down the Randall Road corridor each October at the mall.
