NuMark Credit Union collects food, money for food bank

JOLIET - NuMark Credit Union members collected more than $1,000 in canned food and other nonperishable items in addition to $2,000 in cash donations to benefit Northern Illinois Food Bank during the month of December.

All five NuMark Credit Union locations accepted donations the first two weeks of December. With their donations staff members built towers of food and displayed them for members to see. A couple offices made Christmas trees from canned goods. One branch made a Chicago Cubs logo while another location made a tower similar to the Willis Tower in Chicago.

"The members were very excited to help such a good cause," said Tina Oberlin, NuMark Credit Union Crest Hill Office Teller Supervisor. "Members loved to see that we made a Christmas tree with our donated food. It helped bring even more awareness to the cause."

NuMark Credit Union has teamed up with Northern Illinois Food Bank to help them raise money to open a new facility in Will County. Currently, the closest center is located in Geneva. The new center will help to better serve Will, Grundy, Kendall and Kankakee counties. It's not too late to support the cause and make a donation. Visit numarkcu.org to make a donation online.

"Thank you to all the NuMark members and staff who contributed to the Northern Illinois Food Bank," said Linda Krakora, NuMark Credit Union Charity Organizer. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with Northern Illinois Food Bank and helping their cause."
