Schaumburg signs off on a Miller's Ale House

Schaumburg trustees Tuesday approved the village's seventh new restaurant of 2017 - a Miller's Ale House just south of the southwest corner of Meacham and Remington roads.

The 7,200-square-foot restaurant will occupy the largest of three lots at the corner, which together will make up a new development called Meacham Corners.

In late January, trustees also approved a PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality) Restaurant for the 3,918-square-foot building at the corner itself.

Schaumburg Community Development Director Julie Fitzgerald said opening dates for the two eateries in Meacham Corners have not been set, but they are intended to be completed during the 2017 construction season.

In mid-February, officials approved the GraviTea cafe for a 960-square-foot space in the Kingsport Plaza Shopping Center at 877 S. Roselle Road. Its neighbors will include the existing restaurants Bisi, Bavaria Hof, Porto's Peri Peri and Hot Dog Express.

GraviTea will serve bubble tea, coffee and such packaged snacks as chips, muffins and candy bars.

Another major development during 2017 is Woodfield Gatherings, which will include two restaurants. It's a three-building outlot development in the parking lot of Woodfield Mall between Firestone and Hooters along Golf Road.

Chuy's restaurant will occupy a free-standing, 6,802-square-foot building there, while Nando's Peri-Peri Chicken will be a 3,577-square-foot tenant in one of two multi-tenant buildings.

Egg-O-India, an Indian restaurant specializing in egg-based dishes, is expected to be the soonest of the new restaurants to open. It will occupy a 1,788-square-foot space in Golf Higgins Plaza at 829 W. Higgins Road this spring.

A 3,100-square-foot building for a yet-unnamed coffee-and-doughnut shop is also approved for the former site of the village's fire station at 1459 W. Schaumburg Road.
