CHICAGO — ComEd has been named by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a 2017 Energy Star Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence Award winner.

The award, which is the highest honor presented by Energy Star, recognizes ComEd for its continued leadership in protecting its environment through superior energy efficiency achievements.

Energy Star is a U.S. EPA voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency. ComEd, an Energy Star partner for the past eight years, will be honored for its ongoing commitment to discount Energy Star-certified LEDs for its customers and executing an awareness campaign promoting Energy Star appliance rebates that resulted in 53,600 rebates valued at more than $2.8 million in savings. The award also recognizes the significant increase in owners and operators of commercial and multifamily buildings using the ComEd created Energy Usage Data system tool.

“ComEd values our partnership with Energy Star and we are honored to once again receive this recognition for our efforts in energy efficiency,” said Val Jensen, senior vice president, Customer Operations at ComEd. “ComEd has one of the largest and most comprehensive energy efficiency programs in the country, offering our customers a variety of initiatives that help them reduce energy use and contribute to a cleaner environment. As we grow our efficiency programs, we look forward to continuing to partner with Energy Star to help our customers save even more energy and money.”
