Amita Health group receives award

Amita Health Medical Group Obstetrics and Gynecology practice, OMG Women's Healthcare in Hinsdale, has been recognized at the American College of Nurse Midwives 62nd national conference.

The practice submitted its clinical data for review as part of a large, national quality project. At the conference, recently held in Chicago, OMG Women's Healthcare received the best practices award, making them one of 23 medical practices that has exceeded benchmarking standards of quality care in the U.S., as determined by ACNM, the National Quality Forum and The Joint Commission.

The Best Practices Award recognizes four core perinatal measures:

• Induction of labor — less than 10 percent

• Primary caesarean birthrate — less than 15 percent

• Episiotomy — less than 2 percent

• Exclusive breast-feeding within first 48 hours — greater than 75 percent.

Gynecologist Steven Daube, D.O., and Certified Nurse Midwives Megan Belleavia, Briana Bloembergen and Beth Helme-Smith, attended the conference and accepted the honor. Dr. Daube and the team of midwives are based at the Amita Health Medical Group Obstetrics and Gynecology practice at 950 N. York Rd. in Hinsdale, and treat patients at Amita Health Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale.

“We strive for continuous quality improvement across every area of the medical center,” said Michael Goebel, chief executive officer, Amita Health Hinsdale. “This recognition demonstrates that our physicians are committed to these efforts as well. We congratulate this practice on receiving this honor and thank them for their dedication to achieving outstanding quality metrics.”
