Hoffman Estates card shop changes names, updates

After 15 years operating under the Hallmark name, the card and gift store at 1481 W. Palatine Road in Hoffman Estates is changing its name to A New Dawn Gifts, Boutique, Cards.

The shop will feature gifts including baby treasures for the new arrival, unique games and books for children, engagement, bridal and wedding gifts and stylish fashion and accessories.

Dawn Reed, a 1974 graduate of Fremd High School who grew up nearby in Inverness, is the owner of the store.

Describing the transformation, Reed said "The old card store was worn and dated ... I wanted something different. I wanted a store selling quality products in all price ranges to serve the nearby communities of Inverness, South Barrington, Barrington, Hoffman Estates and Palatine."

Above all, Reed said she wants to provide convenience to people in need of a quick gift for a dinner party, birthday party, shower and other events. "In today's world, people need convenience," Reed said.

Grand opening festivities will take place Nov. 30 through Dec. 3.
