Manufacturing summer camp program gets $6,000 donation

Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, the foundation of the Elgin-based Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl., recently received a check for $6,000 from Mastercut Tool in Safety Harbor, Fla. for the association's annual summer manufacturing camp.

Mastercut Tool President and CEO Michael Shaluly presented the check, which represented the second annual donation to NBT resulting from the annual 5k Run, Walk, Paddle fundraiser organized by Mastercut Tool and the Shaluly Foundation.

Funds were also donated to three additional organizations supporting manufacturing education.

The manufacturing camp grants program of NBT began in 2004 and, to date, has supported the creation of 260 camps in 33 states, which have motivated more than 4,700 people between the ages of 11 and 16 to explore manufacturing technology and consider pursuing manufacturing careers. In addition to the summer manufacturing camp program, NBT provides scholarships to postsecondary students who are pursuing studies leading to careers in manufacturing.

"Through the recognition received because of this support, the number of camp applications NBT is able to fund in Florida has grown significantly as well."
