Medline's Curad earns first-aid award

Curad said Friday that its product line, SoothePLUS, has been named Product of the Year for 2018 in the first-aid category.

Product of the Year is the world's largest consumer-voted award for product innovation, where winners are backed by the votes of 40,000 consumers in a national representative survey conducted by research partner Kantar TNS, a global leader in consumer insights. Northfield-based Medline acquired Curad in 2007.

For more than 30 years, Product of the Year has guided consumers to the best products on the market across 37 countries, while rewarding manufacturers for quality and innovation. Each year, Product of the Year takes entries from new consumer products launched within the previous year that demonstrate advancement within their industry. Product nominations are placed into categories including beauty, personal care, household essentials, food and beverage and pet care, and are assessed on seven key measures. One product is named the winner of each category, based on the results of the consumer survey.

SoothePLUS Gauze and Pads feature Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to provide an extra level of soothing care. The product was created to be naturally soothing and help eliminate bacterial odors while helping to protect wounds and absorb excess drainage to promote an exceptional healing environment.

"Product of the year answers an essential question - 'How do I find great new products - with so many launches, so many claims, how do you find the best?' This year, a record number of products entered to compete for the winning spot in their respective categories. With the help of 40,000 consumers nationwide, we are excited to champion these winners as they have achieved that validation," said Mike Nolan, CEO of Product of the Year. "Product of the Years' distinctive red seal of approval continues to help shoppers find the best new products on the shelves and give the winners a well-earned competitive advantage."

Medline is a global manufacturer and distributor serving the health care industry with medical supplies and clinical solutions.
