Naperville chamber to host #MeToo discussion

The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce will host this month's general membership luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26. The event will focus on workplace sexual harassment in a #MeToo Society.

The event will take place at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville at 3003 Corporate West Drive in Lisle.

The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce believes that educating the business community is imperative if there is to be a new precedent set for healthy work environments.

"As a business organization, I think it's important to set the stage for a healthy culture," said Nicki Anderson, NACC president & CEO. "I believe that the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce leading the way in setting standards and creating healthy work environments for businesses should be a priority, so we're starting here."

During the luncheon, the panel will help define what constitutes harassment, some subtle signs that sexual harassment exists in your workplace, what you should do when situations rise to the level of violating the law, and how to create a workplace culture that does not tolerate harassment.

Attendees will be given an opportunity to engage with and learn from a panel consisting of Leah Setzen, Partner at Grunyk Family Law; Kevin McCarthy, assistant vice president for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at North Central College and David Carpenter, vice president of human resources at Securitas USA. This is a must-attend event for anyone interested in more fully understanding sexual harassment and taking steps to create a healthy environment for your organization, Anderson said.
