Five Legat staffers become principals
Legat Architects has appointed the following individuals to the role of principal:
•Susan Jahn (Gurnee studio), director of finance/controller: Jahn joined Legat in 2009, and has played a key role in enhancing the firm's operational efficiency.
•Tom Kikta (Chicago studio), project manager/building envelope director/studio director: A member of Legat since 1990, Kikta has served as a mentor to many emerging professionals, led projects for over 50 clients representing a variety of building types, and helped establish Legat's expertise in roofing analysis and repair.
•Sylvia Kowalk (Chicago studio), director of interior design: Kowalk started at Legat in 2011, but has partnered with the firm on projects for over 15 years. She has designed brand- and culture-sensitive interior environments that have improved performance and attitude at facilities ranging from schools to health care centers.
•Robin Randall (Oak Brook studio), director of preK-12 education: Randall, a leading voice in the planning and design of educational environments, joined Legat in 2013. She has helped many institutions achieve settings that inspire curiosity, build environmental awareness, and support curricula.
•Vuk Vujovic (Chicago studio), director of sustainability & energy: Since coming to Legat in 2000, Vujovic has led the firm's evolution to sustainability and contributed to several projects nationally recognized for advancing sustainable design, renewable energy, and resiliency. Vujovic also served as director of Legat's Chicago studio for ten years.
