Medline opens new plant in Texas

Medline said it opened a 250,000-square foot manufacturing facility in the Killam Industrial Park in Laredo, Texas, expanding its Texas footprint to more than 1.5 million square feet of production and distribution space in the state.

The Laredo plant is one of four Medline facilities in North America that specializes in manufacturing custom surgical procedure trays that enable hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to optimize operating room inventory, improve efficiency and drive improved patient outcomes.

"As demand for Medline's products and solutions grow, it created an opportunity for our company to expand in the local market. Laredo is a great community and we are excited to establish a presence here," said Joaquin Nacher, vice presidents of operations for the Medline Laredo facility. "As a prominent employer in community, we are dedicated to creating quality jobs for local residents who want to help improve people's lives and contribute to Medline's continued growth."

With existing state-of-the-art distribution centers in Katy and Wilmer, Northfield-based Medline has built trusted relationships with Texas hospitals, physicians, home health agencies, nursing homes and durable medical equipment providers.

"Medline's investment to the community of Laredo is more than the hundreds of jobs created by this new facility or the amount of capital already invested; this venture signifies the beginning of Laredo's potential to attract companies of this caliber to our city," says Miguel Conchas, president and chief executive officer of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce. "We believe that Medline's commitment to our community will spark similar engagement from other manufacturers to bring their business to Laredo."
