Studio earns prestigious award

Architect and interior designer Lenore Weiss, principal of Lenore Weiss Studios, said her firm has received the 2018 Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence for Residential Specialty.

The Chrysalis Awards program, founded in 1994, recognizes the nation's best work in fifteen general categories of residential and commercial remodeling. The Chrysalis Awards are open to professional remodelers and designers in the United States. Continuing to set new standards of professionalism, 80 remodeling companies were named winners at the 2017 Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence. The entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.

The studio has offices in Northfield and Chicago.

Weiss's winning project redesigned underutilized common areas into inviting gathering areas that encourage socializing and are perfectly suited to her client's active social lifestyle. A vacant living room and dated family room were converted into modern contemporary entertainment spaces complete with a bar and lounge seating. "We are so pleased to receive this award," said Weiss. "Our client trusted us to use our creativity to resolve a spatial issue and was ultimately delighted with the outcome. We are honored to know our colleagues in the industry acknowledge the value of the design as well."

"This was the first year Lenore Weiss Studios entered the awards, and to take home top honors on the first attempt is very impressive," said Ken Kanline, director of the Chrysalis Awards.
