Streamwood to consider new 100-foot cellular pole
Streamwood trustees are scheduled to vote Thursday on a 100-foot-tall cellular pole proposed by AT&T Mobility for a commercially zoned site adjacent to the Arthur L. Janura Forest Preserve at the northwest corner of Bartlett and Schaumburg roads.
"It's as far away from people as it can be," Village Manager Sharon Caddigan said of the pole's proposed placement on the site at 50 N. Bartlett Road. "It's going to meet a coverage need."
The plan unanimously recommended by the village's planning and zoning board is for AT&T Mobility to screen the leased site with a wooden fence and landscaping, she added.
Caddigan estimated it's been about a decade since Streamwood was last asked to consider a new cellular facility. While many have been consolidated on shared sites, such as on the village's water tower, this one would be at a unique location specifically aimed to address customer complaints about a gap in service at the north end of Streamwood.
No one appeared before the planning and zoning board to argue against the proposed cellular pole, Caddigan said.
The village board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 in the village hall council chambers at 301 E. Irving Park Road.
