Five finalists named for CLC's top job

The College of Lake County announced its five finalists Tuesday in its search for a new president.

The CLC community will get an opportunity to know the candidates, all leaders of Midwestern community colleges, through a series of forums that kick off next week.

The finalists were selected by a 19-member presidential advisory search committee of college staff, community members and an academic search consulting firm. The group has been narrowing the list of applicants since early October.

The community forums will begin on Monday and run through the week at each of the three CLC campuses. For dates, locations and times for each candidate, as well as more information about the finalists, visit www.clcillinois.edu/features/finalists.

After the forums wrap up, the college board will name its selection by December, Julia Guiney, CLC executive director of human resources, said Tuesday.

"We look forward to the participation of the College of Lake County community, students, faculty, staff and other community members, in this process," Guiney said in a news release.

The nominees are Keith Cornille, executive vice president/chief student services officer at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin; Lori Suddick, vice president of learning and chief academic officer for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, Wisconsin; J. Michael Thomson, eastern campus president of Cuyahoga Community College in northeast Ohio; Cliff Davis, president of the Ozarks Technical Community College's OTC Table Rock Campus in Springfield, Missouri; and Amit B. Singh, the provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at Clark State Community College in Springfield, Ohio.

Depending on who is selected, CLC's next president could start between Jan. 1 and July 1, 2018. Interim President Rich Haney has agreed to stay on through June, Guiney said.
