Mount Prospect considers letting boutiques serve alcohol
Boutiques and booze apparently are starting to go hand in hand.
Mount Prospect's village board this week heard a request for a change in the village's liquor regulations that would allow BYOB without service of food.
Recently, Gathered Boutique, located at 117 S. Emerson St., approached the village requesting a liquor license. Gathered Boutique offers a variety of "how to" workshops and wants the license so it can offer a complimentary glass of wine or have patrons bring their own bottle to enjoy and complement their experience.
It apparently is a trend, with Bottle & Bottega, Pinot's Palette, Tipsy Paint and Color Me Mine located in Arlington Heights, Park Ridge, Schaumburg and Glenview, respectively, inviting bottles as a complement to the boutique experience.
Mount Prospect already permits complimentary service at salons and spas in its Class S-6 (specialty) liquor license and is considering extending the license classification to include art studios and craft workshops.
The village would be following the Park Ridge Complimentary Class S-4 license ordinance along with Mount Prospect's Class S-6 Cosmetic Facility license ordinance.
