Softball: Ulaszek spins no-hitter as Bartlett downs Batavia

Janelle Ulaszek tossed a no-hitter Monday with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks as the Bartlett softball team defeated Batavia 8-0 in an Upstate Eight Conference crossover game.

Taylor Rotondo led the offense for the Hawks (10-5-1, 3-2) with 2 home runs and 3 RBI while Ulaszek added 2 hits and an RBI and Elyse Hickey drove in a run.

Dundee-Crown 6, Cary-Grove 0: Sydney Ruggles fired a 3-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts and no walks as the Chargers (7-4-1, 2-2) won this Fox Valley Conference game. Hannah Gestrich had 3 hits and an RBI for D-C while Kayla Sjodin and Cady English added 2 hits each. Alina Krembuszewski had a double for Cary-Grove (1-7, 1-3).

Burlington Central 7, Marian Central 5: In nonconference action, Reili Gardner had a triple and a double while Gretchen Schrubbe added 2 hits to lead the Rockets (5-6) to the win. Sarah Schmitt added a double for BC. Julia Barnes was the winning pitcher, allowing 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Aurora Christian 13, Luther North 3: Grace Folino had 2 triples, a double and 5 RBI to lead the Eagles (4-3, 4-1) to a Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Janae Holloway (2 hits), Noelle Chaney (4 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Brianna Rossi (2B, 2 RBI) also contributed. Chaney was the winning pitcher, allowing 3 hits with 9 strikeouts and 3 walks.

CL South 5, Prairie Ridge 4: The Gators scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to come away with this FVC win. Brittany Baker (2 hits, RBI), Emily Sullikowski (2 hits, 2B), Maddie Bush (2 RBI) and Samantha Burgard (2B) led the offense for Crystal Lake South (8-4, 2-2). Christina Toniolo was the winning pitcher.

Glenbard South 6, St. Edward 3: Emily Stapay had a home run and Jessy Kramp a double for St. Edward (3-10, 2-3) in this Metro Suburban loss.

ACC 9, Elmwood Park 5: Jessica Kling (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Jessica Eallonardo (2 hits, 2B) led the offense for Aurora Central (4-6, 2-1) in this Metro Suburban win. Danielle Brown added 2 RBI, Bridget Butler had 2 hits and 2 RBI and winning pitcher Izzy Hernandez had 2 hits for the Chargers.

Streamwood 6, Glenbard East 4: In the Upstate Eight, Rebecca Daley had 2 doubles and 2 RBI to lead the Sabres (5-3, 2-2) to the win. Taylyr Crocilla allowed 5 hits in picking up the win in the circle.

Geneva 14, Larkin 0: Alyssa Kramer had 2 home runs and a double, Katie Keller a home run and a double and Kaitlyn Plocinski a home run for Geneva (10-2, 4-0) in its UEC win. Annika Radabaugh added 2 doubles for the Vikings while Meghan Mraz also doubled. Emily Viebrock (5-0) allowed just 2 hits in earning the win in the circle. Haley Bohne had a double for Larkin (1-11, 0-5).

Huntley 5, Jacobs 4: Rylie Porretto hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Huntley (7-4, 3-0) to an FVC win. Autumn Kasal had 2 hits for the Red Raiders and Taylor Pacana added 2 hits with a double and an RBI, Tiffany Giese was the winning pitcher. Hayley Masching, Alexis Addante and Hannah Slocum each had doubles for Jacobs (6-4-1, 1-2).

Elgin 11, East Aurora 6: Jasmine Jackson and Nayelli Sanchez (3B) each had 3 hits with an RBI as Elgin (1-11, 1-7) won its first game of the season. Caitlin Keith added a double for the Maroons and Dannah Perryman was the winning pitcher.

Hampshire 13, CL Central 5: Delaney Rummell (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Gwen Malecke (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) each had home runs as Hampshire (8-4, 3-1) win this FVC game. Sarah Bowen (3 hits, 2 RBI), Peyton DeChant and Morgan Haefling each doubled for the Whip-Purs. Jasmine Lopez was the winning pitcher.
