Construction starts on Saddle Creek facility in Joliet

JOLIET - Woodrdge-based Morgan/Harbour recently broke ground on the 1.1 million square foot distribution facility for Saddle Creek Logistics Services at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center in Joliet.

CenterPoint Properties is the developer of the new build-to-suit project. Founded in 1966, Saddle Creek Logistics Services is a third-party logistics company providing warehousing, transportation, packaging and fulfillment services.

The firm has 41 locations nationwide and is relocating to Joliet from its existing facility in Elwood.

The new build-to-suit development is situated on 60 acres at Logistics Drive and CenterPoint Way in Joliet. The building will be constructed of precast and steel and feature 32-foot clear ceilings, 132 dock doors, four drive-in doors, ample parking, 328 trailer stalls as well as 14,670 square feet of office space. The project will create approximately 250 jobs, with 200 permanent warehouse workers.

Construction is scheduled for completion in February 2016.

Morgan/Harbour's Graeme Foster is the project manager for the build-to-suit. Seamus McCarron and Nick Pullara are the project superintendents. Architectural services are being provided by Cornerstone Architects. Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented Saddle Creek in the build-to-suit transaction and developer CenterPoint Properties was represented by NAI Hiffman.
