New Ramada Plaza opening Prospect Heights

Chicago-based Lakhani Hospitality will celebrate the opening of the new Ramada Plaza Chicago North Shore, 1090 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Wheeling, with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday afternoon.

The former Fairbridge Inn, which is adjacent to the runways at the Chicago Executive Airport, has undergone a $5.2 million renovation and now features 139 guest rooms, 5,000 square feet of meeting space, a four-lane bowling alley, a fitness center and a Village Inn Pizzeria and Sports Bar, according to a news release.

The hotel has a Wheeling address but is in Prospect Heights, so Mayor Nick Helmer will be on hand for the ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

"We are very excited about this hotel, and the growth of Lakhani Hospitality," said Sheila Lakhani Gilani, chief operating officer for Lakhani Hospitality. "This hotel was in desperate need of repair and renovation."

The hotel will officially open next month, but is now taking reservations.
