The Clubhouse restaurant in Schaumburg closes

The Clubhouse restaurant in Schaumburg, the third user of the vast, 22,000-square-foot building on American Lane that opened as Entourage in 2006, has permanently closed.

Managers at The Clubhouse's original location at Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook could not be immediately reached for comment Tuesday.

A sign posted outside the Schaumburg restaurant confirms its permanent closing.

"Thank you for all your past business and support," it reads. "We are grateful for your patronage and look forward to serving you again at our Oak Brook location."

The Schaumburg site recently hosted Mayor Al Larson's 2018 state of the village presentation and was expected to host the Schaumburg Business Association's "Good Morning, Schaumburg" breakfasts this year. SBA President Kaili Harding said those events will move back to Chandler's Chophouse & Grille at the Schaumburg Golf Club on Roselle Road.

Entourage was 4½ years old when it closed in August 2010. The building reopened as Grillhouse by David Burke in 2014, but that restaurant closed in early September 2016.

The Clubhouse was announced as the building's third operator in November 2016.

Just before that, Schaumburg's Economic Development Manager Matt Frank speculated that more than one tenant might share the large space in the future. But officials were pleased with The Clubhouse's plans to occupy the entire building.

Though just west of Woodfield Mall and prominent in appearance, the building's visibility has always been obscured by Weber Grill Restaurant, which sits at the corner of Meacham Road and American Lane.

Schaumburg Community Development Director Julie Fitzgerald said the village has heard no plans for an immediate successor in the building, but officials still believe it has potential with its 7,000 square feet of banquet space alone.
