Panels to review proposed Arlington 425 development

Two Arlington Heights panels will provide preliminary review next week to a proposed massive redevelopment of a vacant block in the downtown.

The design commission will give feedback on the Arlington 425 project at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, while the conceptual plan review committee will meet the following night at the same time. Both meetings will be in the third floor community room of village hall.

Developer CCH's proposal to develop the northern three-quarters of an empty block at Chestnut Avenue and Campbell Street includes a five- to six-story, 73-unit residential building facing Chestnut; an eight-story, 172-unit apartment building with 18,000 square feet of first-floor retail space on Campbell; and a 12-story, 113-unit apartment building on Highland Avenue that would include a five-story parking garage. During an early review of the project in October, village board members offered mostly positive reviews, but also raised concerns about the height and size of the buildings and the traffic and parking issues its construction could bring.
