'Elk Grove's nice to everyone': Mayor's Day 2 diary from the Bahamas Bowl

Welcome to Day 2 of the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl.

The two football teams arrived today - Toledo and Florida International. We're going to be having our team dinner where we get to welcome the teams here and kick off the festivities for the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl.

We got a little surprise tonight. Stern Pinball - the largest manufacturer of pinball machines in America and housed in Elk Grove Village - is going to have a pinball contest and afterward the winning team gets a free pinball machine. But Elk Grove's nice to everyone. We're gonna make sure both teams go home with a brand new pinball machine from Stern Pinball.

• Editor's Note: Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson is sending a daily journal from Nassau, Bahamas, in advance of the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl, to be played Friday, Dec. 21. The village spent $300,000 to sponsor the college football bowl game, which uses the village's business marketing tagline.
