Lavelle Law adds election law practice

SCHAUMBURG - With 2019 and 2020 bringing a series of municipal, state and national elections, Lavelle Law has launched a new Election Law practice group.

"Today's hyper-focused campaigns have led to an extraordinary amount of legal issues surrounding the election cycle," said Lavelle Law Managing Partner Ted McGinn. "From challenges to nominating petitions to ballot recounts, the entire process now has steps requiring experienced legal guidance."

Leading the new group will be attorney Joseph Vito. Vito is an elected official in the village of Wheeling. In recent months, Vito successfully represented candidates in other municipalities who were facing challenges to their nominating petitions.

McGinn said the campaign law experience Vito offers along with the tax and litigation skills of other attorneys, will make for a robust practice group.

"It now requires a significant personal and financial commitment to run for public office. It will be our goal to keep candidates at any level of government on the ballot, in compliance and protect them through the ballot counting process," McGinn said.
