'Comcast Cares Day' benefits local organizations

SCHAUMBURG - The 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, the company's celebration of its year-round commitment to volunteerism and service, will be held Saturday,

This year, more than 6,000 local Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families, friends and community partners will undertake more than 70 volunteer projects across Illinois, Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan. A variety of volunteer projects around the suburbs will support local organizations, including Western DuPage Special Recreation Association in Carol Stream, Fry Family YMCA in Naperville, Buddy Foundation in Arlington Heights, and a Safe Place in Waukegan.

The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation will also provide grants to community partner organizations that host projects. The grants are designed to help them continue their missions throughout the year. To date, the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation has awarded nearly $25 million in grants to participating organizations.
