Carol Stream revokes spa's license after undercover sting

A Carol Stream spa has lost its massage license after an undercover investigation led to the arrest of an employee, village officials said Friday.

The village also has fined Jun Liu, the owner of Premier Spa, $1,500 as part of the decision to revoke the license during a public hearing last week.

Police opened an investigation after receiving tips about activity at the spa at 922 Army Trail Road.

On Dec. 15, a female employee at Premier Spa was accused of agreeing to perform sexual services for an undercover police officer in exchange for money, according to a village news release.

After the employee's arrest, several village code violations also were discovered, officials said. The violations included someone living within the business and a massage therapist working without proper licensing, along with other property code violations, the release stated.

As a result of the village's sanctions, operations at the business must cease immediately, and the premises must be vacated within a week of the decision. The location also is prohibited from being used as a massage establishment for a year.
