Safety, compliance issues tackled at conference

Business owners and executives are concerned about ensuring the safety of their employees, maximizing profits, and minimizing their exposure to costly government compliance issues.

The Chicagoland Safety Health and Environmental Conference provides quality, timely, relevant and money saving solutions to address these concerns. Each year business owners, plant managers, professional and civic association members, municipalities, consultants, risk management professionals, project managers, loss control specialists, safety committee members, unions and union members, HR managers, corporate executives, shop foreman, lawyers and professional trainers attend the conference. The 2016 conference drew over 400 people from 17 states and 89 Illinois communities.

The Chicagoland Safety Health and Environmental Conference offers a wide range of topics relating to OSHA/EPA compliance, general safety, industrial hygiene, environmental management and professional development.

Training sessions and workshops are 1.5 hour, 3 hour or all day and offer basic, intermediate and advance level training. Presenters include university professors, lawyers, consultants, safety professionals, business owners, professional trainers, business and industry professionals and others who have extensive knowledge and experience. The 2016 conference session attendance was almost 1,800 people and the average class size was 21 people.

This year the conference is offering more than 75 topics including Safety Impact on Insurance, Employment Testing: What Could Go Wrong, OSHA Recordkeeping, Are You Complying with OSHA, Temporary Workers, Human Factors in Injury Prevention, OSHA Update, OSHA Inspections and Report Requirements, New Silica Rule for Construction, Bridging the Generation Gap in a Multigenerational Workplace, How to Cultivate a World Class Safety Culture, It's not Just Blood Anymore, and many more. The Business Expo on Wednesday features business owners and vendors from across the U.S. as they showcase their latest products and services. An evening networking social with hors d'oeuvres and drinks follows the Business Expo. Robert Sams travels from Australia to present the keynote address at the Thursday luncheon. Sams has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of risk, safety and organizational culture. Copies of his new book, "Social Sensemaking," will be available.

Promotional support of the conference is provided each year by many state and local business, trade organizations, manufacturing associations and chambers of commerce.
