Chicago Executive Airport adding new hangars

Hawthorne Global Aviation Services, one of three fixed-base operators at Chicago Executive Airport, is planning a large expansion of hangar space.

The company's plan to building a nearly 33,000-square-foot hangar with office space sailed through to approval in Wheeling, which owns the airport with Prospect Heights.

With about 30,000 square feet of existing hangar space, the new building would double capacity.

Within the next three years, the company plans to build another hangar directly northwest of the new facility along South Milwaukee Avenue.

Wheeling village board members approved the plans unanimously last week.
