Portillo's launches spring Lenten-friendly menu
Portillo's announced that it has kicked off its limited-time menu connected to the spring season.
Oak Brook-based Portillo's introduced two new meatless Lenten-friendly menu items: the Flounder Sandwich with a Panko-breaded Alaskan wild-caught flounder filet served on a toasted, beer-infused hoagie; and the Grilled Portobello Sandwich topped with red onion, tomato, and mozzarella cheese; served with basil pesto sauce on toasted tomato focaccia bread.
These items will be available through March 31.
Portillo's said it is also bringing back its favorite spring menu items including the brand's Pepper and Egg Sandwich, featuring seasoned scrambled eggs topped with house-cooked sweet peppers on a choice of a croissant or French bread; and the Tuna Salad Sandwich, topped with lettuce and tomato, served on a choice of a pretzel roll or croissant. The Pepper and Egg Sandwich is offered every Friday, through March 30.
Portillo's, which started in 1963, includes restaurants in more than 40 locations across several states. Portillo's is best known for its Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, chargrilled burgers, fresh salads and qchocolate cake.
The Portillo's brand also includes Barnelli's restaurants that serve ribs, pasta, sandwiches, soups, and salads.
