Aldi to open renovated West Chicago store

Aldi is reopening its renovated West Chicago store on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

The store, at 978 N. Neltnor Blvd., is part of a $1.9 billion initiative to remodel and expand more than 1,300 Aldi stores nationwide by the end of 2020. Locally, ALDI is investing $180 million to update more than 130 stores in the Chicagoland area by the end of 2020.

To celebrate the West Chicago store reopening, Aldi will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday at 8:25 a.m., followed by its golden ticket giveaway offering gift cards to the first 100 customers. Shoppers can also sample Aldi-exclusive brand foods and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year's supply of produce.

All remodeled stores feature open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials.

"At Aldi, everything we do is about delivering high-quality food at affordable prices, and that will never change," said Laura Branneman, Batavia division vice president for ALDI. "Now it will be even easier for customers to find the foods they want from us at a great price, whether it's fresh produce, award-winning wines or our beloved Aldi finds."

Aldi operates nearly 1,800 U.S. stores in 35 states. Aldi sells frequently purchased grocery and household items, primarily under its exclusive brands.
