Passionette Palate personalizes health needs, goals

An interview with Annette Licitra, an integrative health coach + wellness chef and owner of Passionette Palate.

Q: Tell us about the business.

A: My business name is a play on my name "Passionette" because I am passionate about what goes on our plates since that is what nourishes our bodies. In my practice as a Wellness Chef and Health Coach, I specialize in helping women restore their energy, alleviate digestive issues and simplify nutrition so they can power through on their journeys. Eating for fertility is another area that I focus on as that is a subject near and dear to my heart. I am on my own fertility journey, and there is such a strong connection between food and reproductive health. There are so many diet fads and misconceptions out there, so I'm here to help cut through the noise while providing a foundational understanding of what nourishes and heals the body.

I believe that health & food go hand-in-hand, so what goes on our plates is extremely vital for the healing process and optimal health. My simple approach to wellness is holistic as I consider the full picture of the mind, body, and soul. I promote bio-individuality which means that there is no one perfect way of eating that works for everybody.

Q: How did it get started?

A: Experiencing the positive changes with my own health led me to make a career shift from a 12-year stint in corporate finance to become a Wellness Chef + Certified Health Coach. I've always loved to eat, cook and help people, so it was a natural progression. In May 2017, I completed my Culinary Arts degree along with a full-year of schooling for my health coach certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

Q: What do you offer when it comes to corporate meetings?

A: Wellness talks & cooking demos, smoothie socials.

Q: Describe the atmosphere.

A: I don't have a brick and mortar just yet, but I promote healing from the inside out.

Q: What's trending?

A: Many different fads/trends as far as diets and lifestyles, such as Keto, Whole 30, Paleo, Vegan, Gluten-free, Autoimmune Protocol and the list goes on. Health is not about dieting; it's a lifelong transformation, one healthy habit at a time. It is also important to focus on the key health elements of eating, motion, sleep, stress reduction and finances while working toward optimal health. Each person has very specific needs for his or her own health.

Q: Tell us one interesting fact about the business.

A: When instructing cooking classes, I don't just provide the recipes and teach how to make them; there is a hidden healing power element to the class. I provide the healing benefits of the ingredients, which foods support which part of the body, how they help us in our healing process and highlight some of the spiritual and emotional energy the foods possess. I also provide grocery store tours.
