Truluck's brings Southern hospitality to Rosemont

An interview with Cassandra Mazur, special events coordinator at Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House in Rosemont.

Q: Tell us a little bit about the business.

A: Fresh seafood and succulent crab, complemented by an award-winning wine list and signature handcrafted cocktails, served with unwavering hospitality.

We're located in the new Pearl District on Rosemont's Mini Mile of Entertainment and neighbor the Fashion Outlets and Parkway Bank Park, blocks from Donald Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont Theatre, Allstate Arena and O'Hare International Airport.

Q: Explain the history. How did it get started?

A: Founded 26 years ago in Houston, Texas with a commitment to serving the freshest seafood and crab.

Truluck's serves its signature dish, Florida Stone Crab, fresh from its own fisheries near the Florida Keys - from our traps to your table in hours. Honored to bring Truluck's trademark Southern Hospitality to Chicago.

Q: What do you offer when it comes to corporate meetings?

A: All-inclusive experience. From décor, AV resources and valet to customized menus, expert wine pairings and an extensive selection of fresh seafood and Prime steaks.

We take care of all our hosts' details to create fabulous parties and lasting memories, with none of the stress.

Q: Describe the atmosphere.

A: Vibrant sounds of nightly live entertainment in the lounge. Classic, elegant dining room accented by romantic lighting. Floor-to-ceiling windows, plush leather booths, and signature onyx bar, lit from within. Luxurious private dining rooms for up to 125 with private bar access and foyer for receptions.

Q: What are people in your industry talking about?

A: Customization and individuality. Guests are looking for small details that make an event memorable and unique. From creative themed events to unique welcome "wow" factors. Champagne walls or a live chef cooking demo make a big impact.

Craft cocktails as well as big and exciting wine options have been frequently requested. As always, an excellent dining experience speaks volumes even after the guests have left. Fresh, seasonal and sustainable products are at the forefront of a great celebration.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself. What is your past experience in the industry?

A: I spent much of my childhood in my grandma's kitchen - both eating and cooking. Baking was always my favorite but I knew that becoming a pastry cook was not realistic since I loved making a mess in the kitchen and couldn't follow a recipe. I have worked in restaurants and hotels since high school and never looked back.

After college in Chicago, I started working in public relations and quickly learned about restaurant operations and sales. I took a risk in my twenties and moved to Miami. It was my dream job working on the beach.

After a few years and a lot of time in the sun, I came back home to Chicago and dived into events and wedding planning. I didn't realize how much I loved what I was doing until I saw all of the moving parts come to reality with a great team, excellent food and a phenomenal plan. As soon as I learned Truluck's was coming to Chicago, I jumped at the opportunity to handle events in Rosemont - my old stopping grounds.

Q: Tell us one interesting fact about the business that most people may not know.

A: Guests named Truluck's one of OpenTable's Top 100 Restaurants in America.

Q: What separates Truluck's from another seafood restaurant?

A: At Truluck's, we are so committed to serving the freshest Florida Stone Crab that we operate our own fisheries near the Florida Keys. We serve them fresh - never frozen - from our traps to your table in hours.
