Mid-West Moving joins National Van Lines

National Van Lines announced Monday that Elk Grove Village-based Mid-West Moving & Storage, the largest Latino-owned moving company in the Midwest, will partner with the company as an interstate moving agent.

Under the partnership, Mid-West continues to operate as an independent agency, a spokesman for Broadview-based National Van Lines said. While customers moving within the state would continue to operate with Mid-West, those moving out of Illinois would be under the control of National Van Lines, the spokesman added.

Mid-West owner Luis Toledo founded the company in 1983 with one truck and has turned it into a multimillion-dollar commercial and residential relocation firm serving the continental United States.

"I really enjoyed the industry and the physical and organizational challenges it brought," said Toledo, who started in the moving business when he was 18. "I worked there until starting my own moving company with one truck, a name and a logo."

The company accomplishes more than 2,500 moves a year under its banner "People Expect the Best. We Deliver."

Toledo said the company joined National Van Lines because "its nationally recognized customer-satisfaction rating, geographic reach for long-distance residential moving, and mission to give back all align with our corporate mission. This is a great fit for us and our customers."

Toledo was recently honored by the Daily Herald Business Ledger in the publication's 2018 C-Suite Awards program. In an interview in August, he said his company's growth had been gradual and steady, with its success coming from the ability to learn and adapt to the changes in the industry. He also credited having "the right people in the right places and to optimize their talent." Many of his employees have been with the company more than 10 years.

"We treat all our employees as family," Toledo said.
