Manufacturer moving from Schaumburg to Elk Grove

A Schaumburg manufacturer plans to relocate to Elk Grove Village and build a $16 million, 128,000-square-foot industrial building.

Yamazen, Inc., now located at 735 E. Remington Road in Schaumburg, is buying a vacant seven-acre site at 111 Northwest Point Boulevard in Elk Grove from the National Roofing Contractors Association. Yamazen plans to transfer 60 jobs and create 20 more in Elk Grove, officials said.

The building would serve as the U.S. headquarters for the Japanese company, which sells and distributes machine tool equipment, small tools and accessories, plastic injection molding equipment, automation and other high performance manufacturing equipment. It would house the business' corporate office space, robotics center, product demonstration area, parts center and warehouse.

The firm received a special use permit and variation last week from the Elk Grove Village board, as well as endorsement of a Cook County Class 6B tax incentive, which would allow the property to be assessed at 10 percent of its market value for 10 years, at 15 percent in the 11th year, and 20 percent in the 12th year. Property is normally assessed at 25 percent.
