Tasty Catering names new CEO; marks 30th anniversary

Tasty Catering, an Elk Grove Village-based catering and event planning company, has named Kornel Grygo to succeed founding partner Tom Walter as chief executive officer.

Walter will be the company's chief culture officer and advise Grygo in company matters, as well as continue his role as a public speaker and mentor and instructor to other entrepreneurs.

Grygo has been with Tasty Catering for 12 years, most recently as chief revenue officer leading new business development, sales and customer relations. Previously, he was director of logistics, managing labor forecasting, daily routes, schedules, fleet maintenance, and training systems and large-scale events and weddings.

"Kornel's proven track record of increasing operational efficiencies and sales, combined with his commitment to helping team members and clients achieve success, embodies Tasty Catering's core values," Walter said.

A member of the Small Giants Community, an organization that identifies, connects and develops business leaders, Grygo earned a bachelor's in business with an emphasis in business administration and management from University of Illinois at Chicago.

The announcement comes as the company marks its 30th anniversary this year. Since its start in 1989, Tasty Catering has grown to produce more than 10,000 events per year, including catering for corporate events, wedding receptions, holiday parties and other events.

It has been recognized with business and industry awards including Forbes America's Best Small Companies, Inc. Magazine's Best Small Workplace, Daily Herald Business Ledger's Best Places to Work in Illinois, Crain's Best Places to Work, APA's National Award for Psychologically Healthy Workplace, Catering Magazine's Caterer of the Year, and Catersource Magazine's Achievement in Catering Excellence.
