Marcus Hotels to manage Hyatt Regency Schaumburg

Marcus Hotels & Resorts has taken over management of the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, the company announced Tuesday.

The 468-room hotel at 1800 E. Golf Road underwent a $15 million renovation last year, which includes fully redesigned rooms and suites as well as its lobby and meeting rooms, Milwaukee-based Marcus Hotels said in a statement.

Tim Gallagher, co-principal of the hotel's owner, First Equity Group, said the company selected Marcus to manage it because of "its established industry expertise and extensive hotel management capabilities, as well as intimate knowledge of the greater Chicago market."

Marcus Hotels & Resorts owns or manages 22 hotels, resorts and other properties in the U.S. and is a division of the The Marcus Corp. In addition to hotels and lodging real estate, Marcus also owns movie theaters through its Marcus Theatres division, which owns or operates 1,098 screens at 90 locations in 17 states.

The Marcus Corp. President and CEO Gregory S. Marcus said the hotel is in a unique location to cater to both business and personal travelers, given its location across the street from Woodfield Mall and proximity to other attractions like the Schaumburg Convention Center, Legoland Discovery Center and the Ned Brown Preserve,

"The Hyatt Regency Schaumburg adds another exceptional hotel and brand to our diverse portfolio and strengthens our presence in both Chicago and the upper Midwest," he added.

In addition to the hotel, the Hyatt has more than 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space and the City Works Eatery and Pour House restaurant. Another restaurant, Perry's Steakhouse & Grill, is planned to open in 2020.
