BCEN hires Mace as employer relationships manager

OAK BROOK - The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing has hired Kathy Mace, RN, SANE, as employer relationships manager.

In the newly created role, Mace will help employers of emergency, trauma and critical care transport nurses understand the value of emergency nursing specialty certification so that hospitals, health systems and other health care providers can grow and sustain a board certified emergency nurse workforce.

Mace brings over 40 years of emergency department management, nurse leadership and bedside nursing experience to BCEN. During the 10 years prior to joining BCEN, she worked for T-System, Inc., a global IT company, most recently as a clinical resource supporting emergency department workflow optimization. Before that, she was the information system application analyst lead for Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan. For most of her 30 years as an emergency nurse and nurse leader, Mace worked at Sparrow Health System's flagship facility, Sparrow Hospital. She was a department manager of Sparrow Hospital's emergency department/Level 1 trauma center, which included oversight of the mobile intensive care unit, the sexual assault nurse examiner program and collaborative initiatives with the emergency department physician group to improve throughput and patient satisfaction.

Mace will split her time between BCEN's Oak Brook headquarters and Lansing, where she resides.
