Parreault named new Batavia chamber chief

The Batavia Chamber of Commerce has named Margaret Perreault as the organization's new president and chief executive officer.

Perreault, who has been the chamber's membership development specialist for the past four years, was selected based on her work experience with the chamber, according to board of directors chairperson Jessica McGrail.

"In her role as the member development specialist for over four years, Margaret built a solid understanding of the Chamber's operations and is well-regarded among our members," McGrail said. "She is member- and community-focused, which we know will be key in the continued success of our Chamber."

She added the board was confident that Perreault will continue the organization's momentum.

Perreault replaces Holly Deitchman, who resigned last month to become communications director at Batavia School District 101.

McGrail and Perreault said Deitchman's work over the past five years created a strong foundation for future growth of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. Under Deitchman's leadership, membership increased from 280 members to 480 members, and she worked to cement chamber collaboration with Batavia taxing bodies, Batavia MainStreet, and area nonprofits.

"Holly has prepared me in so many ways to take the helm of the chamber and continue its success," Perreault said.

"The Chamber's work is vital to the local business community and I look forward to working with the chamber's board, ambassadors and staff to continue to grow the organization and to promote the interests of local businesses to ensure their livelihood," she added. "I believe in the chamber's capacity to enhance the economic and business climate of our area."
