It did so after a review with an independent adviser, according to the release. The other co-CEO and president, Dr. Nick Turkal, is leaving the company "to pursue other interests," it said.

Skogsbergh, of Hinsdale, became Advocate's chief operating officer in 2001 and its president and CEO in 2002.

Advocate Aurora Health is a not-for-profit health system with more than 70,000 employees and 500 sites, including 28 hospitals. Local hospitals include Good Shepherd, Good Samaritan, Lutheran General, Condell, Sherman and Christ.
