Construction begins on Sawmill Station

MORTON GROVE - Oak Brook-based Kensington Development Partners and IM Properties, with the village of Morton Grove, broke ground on Sawmill Station, a 26-acre redevelopment project at the southeast corner of Dempster Street and Waukegan Road.

When completed, Sawmill Station is projected to include approximately 240,000-square-feet of retail and entertainment space, as well as a 6-story multifamily component of approximately 250,000 square feet.

The start of vertical construction at Sawmill Station is focused on the anchor tenants at the southwest corner of the development and the outlots located on Dempster Street. Construction is expected to commence sone, with some tenants beginning moving in and open stores in the Fall 2020.

Kensington Development Partners and IM Properties have announced numerous leases at Sawmill Station. Anchor tenants, which will be located on the south side of the shopping center include LA Fitness, Dollar Tree and Kohl's. Additional tenants, including Cooper's Hawk and Raising Cane's, are taking outlots along Dempster Street.

"The people who will shop, work, and live here are the beneficiaries of a lot of hard work, vision, and cooperation from the Village of Morton Grove and Kensington Development, " said Morton Grove Mayor Daniel P. DiMaria.
