Sugar Grove chamber sets open house

SUGAR GROVE - The Sugar Grove Chamber of Commerce will hold an open house to welcome new executive director Beth Goncher and showcase its new office.

The event will run from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the new office, on the lower level of Old Second National Bank,

92 Frontage Road in Sugar Grove. No registration is required, beverages and light refreshments will be served at this After Hours event.

Goncher, an Illinois native and Rosary College graduate (now Dominican University) began her position with the Chamber on Jan. 7. Her business background includes human resources, marketing and communications. She will be serving in her position at the Chamber as she also consults with her own company, Serenity Lane Enterprises, working with client business processes.

Priorities for her first 30 days include training on everyday operations, developing a budget, and getting to know the membership while learning the stories of local business owners.

Goncher will succeed Shari Baum, who is retiring after eleven years. Baum was appointed as the first and only employee in 2009 after serving as a volunteer since 2004.
