Jazz brunch set to fund student scholarships

AURORA - The Quad County African American Chamber of Commerce will host its 12th annual Scholarship Jazz Brunch from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Hotel Arista, 2139 City Gate Lane in Naperville.

The chamber's goal is to raise money to award deserving African American college students' financial assistance for books, tuition and housing, according to QCAA Board Chairman Sherman Jenkins. Candidates must have a declared major in business and/or one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) disciplines, he added.

"This event will be particularly special as we will be celebrating both our 12th year anniversary for our Jazz Brunch as well as our 27th year of service as a Chamber," Jenkins said.

The 2019 event saw the QCAACC award a total of $5,000 in scholarships to quad county (Kane, Kendall, DuPage and Will) area college students. This year the chamber will match or exceed that amount.

Tickets for the scholarship jazz brunch are $100 for QCAACC members and $135 for nonmembers. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.quadcountyaachamber.org. No tickets will be available at the door. For more information contact the chamber at (630) 859-9776.
