Great Lakes Credit Union honored for aiding low-income customers

BANNOCKBURN - Great Lakes Credit Union was recently honored by the National Credit Union Association as a certified Low Income Designated credit union.

With more than 50% of its members across the greater Chicago area classified as low-income, GLCU looks forward to leveraging its opportunities to positively impact those in need.

GLCU was also recently awarded the Illinois Credit Union League's Desjardin award for its youth financial literacy initiative, and recently became one of only 16 credit unions in the country to host a certified Housing and Urban Development program to help qualify first-time homebuyers' with down payment assistance.

Since 1938, GLCU has operated with a mission to help improve the lives of its members and community through charitable efforts and initiatives to bring more affordability to the financial industry.
