We are experiencing a period like no other in recent memory.

The COVID-19 outbreak has almost brought business in the suburbs to a standstill. Once vibrant business districts, office and industrial parks are eerily quiet as employees work remotely, or the shelter-in-place order has led other businesses to idle production.

But local businesses have proved their resilience in the past, and we're seeing signs of that even now. Local businesses are adapting production to help support efforts to fight the pandemic. Copper Fiddle Distillery in Lake Zurich, for example, is turning its stills from making vodka and gin to making hand sanitizer for first responders. Likewise, Dimension Design in Glenview is shifting its focus from producing printed fabric structures for trade shows and special events to masks and gowns for those fighting the COVID-19 battle.

We know there are more businesses in the suburbs that are doing what they can to help the effort. And if you're one of those, we want to hear from you.
