Lewis partners with Illinois Virtual School on E-learning program

ROMEOVILLE - In a newly established agreement, Illinois Virtual School licensed instructors are working alongside Lewis University teacher candidates to help them learn best practices in teaching online.

IVS is an approved supplemental online learning provider of the Illinois State Board of Education and administered through the Peoria Regional Office of Education. With the support of IVS, Lewis University teacher candidates are gaining valuable experience and will be in a position to join schools in applying best practices for e-learning and utilizing digital tools in traditional learning environments.

The candidates are engaged in designing online lessons, creating assessments and learning best practices in communicating and providing feedback in the online learning environment.

As the Illinois State Board of Education issued preventive measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, many field experience, aspiring teachers were unable to complete field observation hours in local private and public schools as part of the program.

The partnership is the result of Lewis's middle and secondary education faculty exploring other options to bridge that gap.
