Advanced Geothermal, Plumbing and Heating of Elgin is the 2020 recipient of the Top Job honor for best commercial geothermal heat pump installation/design from the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois. Dirk Dypold, company owner and president, received the award for Advanced. The GAOI recognizes two geothermal heat pump contractors each year, in both the residential and commercial categories. The award was presented at the IL Geothermal Conference in Bloomington in mid-March.

Scholarships, Habitat builds, food pantries, Christmas gifting, literacy, global disease eradication and service above self are basics for the Rotary Club of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers. Since 1989, members have met weekly (now via Zoom) to identify the needs of the local community, raise funds through an Annual Western Auction and give all funds to charity. President Matt Horist of American Community Bank leads a team of business people who care. The Rotary Club of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers are on Facebook and the website address is www.CLDawnbreakers.org.

Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance donated $10,000 to Sarah's Inn in Forest Park as part of an Emergency Community Support Grant to help independent agents give back to their local community during the COVID-19 crisis. Sarah's Inn, nominated by Cathy Hall of Forest Insurance, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by domestic violence and to break the cycle of violence for future generations.

Since March, Reuland's has delivered 6,800 lunches and have sponsorships for 500 more funded by community donors. The law firm Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard has donated a garden dome to Columbia Health Care Center Nursing Home in Wyocena, Wis. that will allow nursing home residents the opportunity to safely visit with their family and loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic. The garden dome donated by Salvi Law is one of three domes the facility began using. Columbia residents and their loved ones are able to schedule one 30-minute session every two weeks to allow everyone a chance to visit with loved ones.
