Water reclamation district approves beach project

LAKE BLUFF - The North Shore Water Reclamation District board voted to award a contract to Chicago-based John Keno & Co. to begin a soil erosion control project at Sunrise Beach in Lake Bluff.

The protect will protect the district's pumping station as well as the beach from high lake levels and damage from severe storms, the district said.

The district has been working closely with the village of Lake Bluff and the Lake Bluff Park District to find solutions that would not only preserve the existing character of the beach, but would ensure its future, said Tom Swarthout, a Ward 4 trustee on the board who represents Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and North Chicago.
