DuPage Medical Group opens surgical center

WESTMONT - DuPage Med­ical Group - the largest inde­pen­dent, mul­ti-spe­cial­ty physi­cian group in Illi­nois - recently opened an Ambulatory Surgical Center dedicated to providing outpatient orthopedic and spine surgical procedures.

At the Westmont surgical center, 815 Pasquinelli Drive, outpatient joint replacement of the hip, knee, shoulder and elbow; spine surgeries such as microdiscectomy, laminectomy, anterior cervical discectomy and stabilization procedures; and advanced surgical procedures related to sports medicine, upper extremity and the shoulder/elbow will be performed.

"Now more than ever, patients want the best surgical care possible, performed by a provider they trust, in a safe environment," said Dr. Anthony Romeo, executive vice president of the group's Musculoskeletal Institute. "Our new orthopedic and spine surgery (center) allows us to provide a more personalized, streamlined and comfortable surgical care experience for our patients."

Not only do patients go home the same day of surgery, but there can also be decreased risk of infection, surgery times can be shorter and recovery time is often quicker for the patient when com­pared to the same sur­gi­cal pro­ce­dure per­formed in a hos­pi­tal set­ting, the medical group said.
