Schaumburg company earns battery recycling award

SCHAUMBURG - Renewance Inc. was one of seven recipients of the Phase II Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Prize recently awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Renewance, a battery-lifecycle management company, was recognized for its Renewance Connect digital platform, a software solution used for battery collection, reuse and recycling services. Those services are provided by clients with the capability and capacity to safely, effectively and economically recycle or reuse end-of-life batteries, the company said.

The Battery Recycling Prize supports the Energy Department's Energy Storage Grand Challenge, an initiative that draws on the extensive research capabilities of the DOE National Laboratories, universities and the energy industry to accelerate the development of energy-storage technologies.
