Suburban manufacturers make Top 8 in contest

Four suburban companies remain in the field of contenders vying for the title of Coolest Thing Made in Illinois.

The Top 8 products have moved ahead in the second annual "Makers Madness" contest hosted by the Illinois Manufacturers' Association. Makers Madness is a bracket-style tournament in which voters across the state will decide which product is The Coolest Thing Made in Illinois.

Area firms still in the running are: Termico Technologies, Elk Grove Village, self-regulating traffic signal heater; Jessup Manufacturing Co., McHenry, Jessup Original Griptape; Thermal Care Inc., Niles, Accuchiller KSE Series outdoor chiller; and Blistex Inc., Oak Brook, new Blistex Lip Ointment.
