Dr. Caitlyn McHugh was selected by her colleagues as the "Tom Lawless Keyperson of the Year" at the 123rd annual meeting of the Illinois Optometric Association.

McHugh resides in Inverness and practices in Chicago, Buffalo Grove and Harwood Heights.

This award recognizes the optometrist who tirelessly advocates for the profession at the highest level. Criteria for the award include attendance at political events, supporting and meeting with legislators, as well as actively contributing to the PAC.

McHugh was deemed by her colleagues to have gone above and beyond the call of duty. McHugh serves as IOA keyperson to State Reps. Ann Williams and Tom Morrison and State Sens. Ann Gillespie and Sara Feigenholtz.

McHugh has also been active on the national level, attending AOA on Capitol Hill to advocate for the visual welfare of the public.
